With a Phd in environmental physics he divides his time between a passion for tramping and photography and work as policy adviser for the Ministry for the Environment. | GOTTLIEB BRAUN-ELWERT: Gottlieb has been a professional mountain guide for 34 years and is director of Alpine Recreation based at Lake Tekapo near Mt Cook. Gottlieb was the first person to climb all NZ's 3000m peaks in a single winter season. His many climbs in the Southern Alps and in Patagonia ( winter ascent of Cerro Fitz Roy and ski journeys on the Patagonian icecap) in particular have enabled him to photograph climbers and ski tourers in action. Gottlieb is also passionate about photographing New Zealand's alpine flowers. |
