Long ago, John Burton developed a passion for New Zealand's mountain and farm lands, through stints of fishing, tramping and mountaineering, as a Land Conservation Officer with the NZ Government, and as a farmer. In recent years John has been involved with the unique occupation of high country mustering and he has roamed the high rangelands of Canterbury with his team of dogs in search of the wily Merino sheep - mustering stick in one hand, camera in the other and a team of working sheepdogs close behind. John works in partnership with daughter Tammie Grant who is also a passionate photographer as well as web and graphic designer. John and Tammie's aim is to portray New Zealand's rural life in powerful, honest images.
