Peter Morath studied at Liverpool College of Art in England. He spent many years as a lithographic artist in the printing industry. During this time he was an active member of art and photographic societies. In 1971 he came to New Zealand and began painting professionally, holding exhibitions and selling work to buyers both here and overseas. In 1977 he also established his own photographic business, supplying publishers of books, calendars, the scenic products of the airlines and those the major travel companies. Most of his photographic work is now done using digital digital SLR's. Three of his own books are still in print, with another due for publication in mid-2009. He was awarded a Fellowship of the Royal Photographic Society of Great Britain (FRPS), that society’s highest distinction. Currently over sixty different art prints of his paintings are published by a Christchurch company.
