Hedgehog House photographers have recorded NZ's trees, many of which are unique. They include conifers - the kauri, rimu, totara, matai, miro, and kahikatea. The southern beeches (Nothofagus sp) dominate much of the forest, while the iconic cabbage tree is common. Rata, pohutukawa and kowhai have colourful flowers. Smaller shrubs, including manuka (ti-tree) and matagouri, and nikau palms are also found in the bush.
