Colin Monteath took part in a two man expedition to Tibet into the famed Kangshung valley, east of Mt Everest. After crossing the Langma la with yaks, a camp was established at Pethang Ringmo on the same spot used by George Mallory and the 1921 British team that eventually established a route to the North Col of Everest. Glorious views of Makalu, Chomolonzo, Lhotse, the Kangshung face of Everest. Colin and his partner crossed a 6000m pass so they could explore the Kharta glacier and Khartaphu peak. Alpine flowers were a feature of this mountain travel in this wonderful part of Tibet. (See also galleries on Tibet and Everest)
